Review

A curse of a dying man which haunts the men of the Gautama family, the gold of murder which shall yeild murder. The new mystery thriller by Kochery C Shibu is rightfully ranked 7th in the Crime, Thriller and Mystery genre of the Amazon Kindle Store following the authors like Agatha Christie, Ruskin Bond and Chetan Bhagat, the plot follows the lives of three individuals Prem Gautama (aka Prem Rollands) a Kalairi master avenging the murder of his brother Arun, Naithy Cherokil a successful bussiness woman and Alice Cherokil.

The story is a nonlinear narration fluctuating between the lives of the three protagonists, the preface begins with a flashback to the ages old robbery committed by Mangal Gautama as the fled the burning house with the gold. Fast forwarding to the present, Alice is on the run after murdering Tony D'Souza and blowing up the apartment with explosives while in a parallel story Arun and Prem two Gautama brothers had to move to Bombay after being chazed off by the local landlord. The story is beautifully penned down with marvelous descriptions and back stories of the characters.

First few chapters of the novel is dedicated to past of the characters, though I would prefer not to discuss other characters as they're not included in the book description (Synopsis) provided by the author, but each character has a interesting past which keeps the reader hooked to their devices. As I have already mentioned the nonlinear portrayal of the story adds a certain charm to the story but I've also felt like it might be the weakest link in the story, for example after the introductory chapter of Arun and Prem, they return in Chapter 8 this long gap could cause problem to the readers for connecting the dots.

Apart from these the book is wonderful, and I recommend it.
